Governor James Orengo Promises on Health

A healthy population is a wealthy population. To preserve any gains from devolution, our people must enjoy their right to health as provided for in the constitution. A right based approach shall be the guiding principle in service delivery and investments in health care.

Population health outcomes shall be enhanced and optimized through “ health in all policies” approach.

Goal 1. Improve life expectancy

Goal 2. Improve Quality of Life by Reducing average time spent in illness(Productivity) Goal 3. Increase social risk Protection coverage

James Orengo and Nyalore team shall;

  • Strengthen Primary Health Care and Community Health Services
  • Implement Universal Health Coverage
  • Strengthen Reproductive Maternal and Child Health Services to drive up life expectancy gains and to address the unacceptably high Maternal, Perinatal and child mortalities
  • Set Up Six Centres of Excellence for Maternal Delivery Services
  • Strengthen Mental Health Services
  • Expand Surgical Services Coverage
  • Modernize Siaya County Referral Hospital, Bondo County Hospital, and Yala County Hospital to support Quality medical service delivery, Teaching, Research and International Collaboration
  • Set up and operationalize Emergency management and response Centre( Call centre, Ambulance tracking coordination and control, facility networks coordination and disaster surveillance)
  • Employ Innovative Financing Mechanisms to Improve Facilities and attract Impact Investors into health care
  • Deploy Integrated electronic Health management and Information System for operational excellence and Strategic decisions support
  • Leverage on the Diaspora Concentration of Health Professionals and other professionals from Siaya to Improve healthcare in Siaya( Help in addressing Demand-side and Supply-side Issues)
  • Incentivize Health Care Workers( HCW) to maximize results( strengthen leadership and Governance, and Occupational Safety and Health)
  • Market Opportunities for Private Health Investments and support Private healthcare providers
