James Orengo Governor of Siaya County Pledges on Youths, Women & PLWD Empowerment

The only route to a prosperous nation is through an environment that enables every willing and industrious Kenyan to become a producer of goods or services. This can be achieved through removal of barriers to economic productivity and prosperity among the youth and women including the physically challenged.

James Orengo and Nyalore team shall;

  • Conduct civic education targeting the youth and women with messages on their rights and opportunities that exist for them especially the allocation of 30% county government tenders.
  • Give incentives to youth and women to enable them finance personal or group business. Enhance the use of ICT for increased productivity among youths and women.
  • Invest part of annual revenue collected in Siaya in research and development of youth and women enterprises.
  • Establish business incubation centers in each sub-county for youth and women enterprise.
  • Organize Boda Boda operators into co-operatives.
  • Create an Endowment Fund which will avail seed capital to organized youth and women groups in Siaya County aimed at enhancing the poor borrowing culture in Luo land.
  • Create youth affairs office under the office of the Governor.
  • Ensure protection to orphans, widows and the vulnerable population.
  • Reduce indoor pollution by promoting the use of LPG, and solar lighting devices
