Governor James Orengo Pledges on Governance & Public Participation

Public participation is a right of every Siaya Citizen, enshrined in the constitution of Kenya. It calls for the involvement of the citizenry in the affairs of government including decision making.

The benefits of governance truly accrue to the citizenry when they participate in decision making to the extent that they are able to influence government policies, undertakings and public sector delivery thereto.

James Orengo and Nyalore team shall;

  • Instill in our staff a sense of discipline, accountability, transparency, respect for guidelines and agreed service delivery standards
  • Protect, implement and defend the Constitution in spirit and letter.
  • Ensure all Siaya Citizens have a role in crafting laws, budgets and policies and involve them in decision making
  • Promote full participation by ALL, the elderly, women, men, PLWDS, boys and girls in all areas of national and county life.
  • Set up checks and balances in the county to prevent corruption.
  • Set up public education programs to create awareness on corruption-prevention within the county government.
  • Partner with civil society to sensitize the general public on their right and privileges.
