Agriculture being the backbone of our county, I will revitalize it through the following targeted and clustered approaches for profitability, empowerment and employment creation. I. Value Addition

a) Maize and Wheat 

Operationalize milling plants to package maize and wheat

b) Potatoes

• Build cold rooms for storage

• Partner with relevant agencies such as KIRDI for processing and market access

• Establish potato value addition unit in Ainabkoi sub-county

• Build capacity for potato breeding and seed production

c) Dairy

Establish state of the art AI center to source, improve local breeds and enhance production 

Establish Uasin Gishu milk processing plant Through Cooperatives provide ATM Milk dispensing machines for milk outlets

d) Beef, Poultry and pig farming

Establish an accredited state of art abattoir

• Package meat products to international standards to target local and international market

• Introduction of feed lots at every sub county

e) Horticultural & High Value Crops  Intensify sensitization on high value crop diversification such Avocado, coffee, Macadamia, fruits and vegetables

Optimize crop production for export and establish market links

f) Fish farming & Bee keeping 

  • Build capacity for farmers to venture into fish farming
  • Enhance breeding centers for fingerlings in every sub county 
  • Establish a honey processing and packing plant

ii. Strengthening farmers' cooperative movement

iii. Revamp existing cooperative societies

iv. Enhance the Cooperative Enterprise Fund

v. Promote and encourage agricultural aggregation as a strategy to achieve economies of scale through cooperative societies

vi. Capacity building on value addition for cooperatives

vii. Land use policy

Formulation of a comprehensive land use policy to provide proper legal, administrative and institutional framework for maximum utilization and productivity of land resources at county and community level e.g. Land consolidation

Agricultural extension services

Agronomy services for field crop production and soil management

Specialized Veterinary Extension services for maximized animal production and husbandry

Capacity building on best agricultural practices in line with the dynamic world of technology

Establish irrigation systems to reduce dependence on rain-fed agriculture

Intensifying existing viable economic agricultural programs

Manage farm machinery at sub County level to ensure all the farmers benefit

Promote, encourage and sensitize farmers on contract farming
