Balala lands in New York as Kenya launches direct flights to the United States

Kenya reached another milestone following the launch of direct flights to the United States. The United States of America is Kenya’s leading tourism source market in the world.

This comes after Kenya received Category One status by the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in 2017 and Jomo Kenyatta International Airport’s elevation to the status of a Last Point of Departure (LPD). This paved the way for Kenya Airways to effectively launch direct flights between the two countries.

“This will substantially boost Kenya’s global profile as a tourism destination as it will provide a shorter, quicker and more affordable connection for tourists and business travelers coming to Kenya,” stated CS Najib Balala.

Upon arrival the Cabinet Secretary was quick to express his gratitude to the team responsible for conducting Kenya’s first direct flight to the US.

“Just landed in New York City, USA. Thanks to Kenya Airways and the amazing team on board led by Captain Makau and Captain Mavada,” he shared via social media.
