Fatuma Achani

Fatuma Achani is a Kenyan politician and lawyer currently serving as the first female Governor of Kwale County, elected under the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party. She made history in the 2022 general election by becoming the first woman governor in the coastal region, succeeding her former boss Salim Mvurya, under whom she served as Deputy Governor for two consecutive terms from 2013 to 2022. With a background in law and a career dedicated to human rights advocacy, particularly with FIDA Kenya, she has focused her leadership on education, healthcare expansion, women's empowerment, and infrastructural development across Kwale County.
