Hon. Ruweida Mohamed Obo

Hon. Ruweida Mohamed Obo is a Kenyan politician, commercial pilot, and entrepreneur serving as the Member of Parliament for Lamu East Constituency. She made history in 2022 by becoming the first woman elected to represent Lamu East in Parliament after winning the seat on a Jubilee Party ticket. Before joining elective politics, she built a career in aviation, working as a pilot and later becoming a line captain at Mombasa Air Safari. She is also the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Obo Aviation. Previously, she served as the Lamu County Woman Representative from 2017 to 2022, where she participated in parliamentary committees and advocated for issues affecting coastal communities. Her public focus areas include transport, blue economy development, women empowerment, education, and improved services for Lamu residents.
