Joshua Mutoto Werunga is a prominent Kenyan politician from Trans Nzoia County who served as the first Speaker of the Trans Nzoia County Assembly following the introduction of devolution in 2013. A resilient political figure, he initially contested the Endebess Constituency parliamentary seat in 2013 and later ran for the Trans Nzoia senatorial seat in 2022 under the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) alongside Governor George Natembeya. As of 2026, Werunga has strategically shifted his political alignment to join President William Ruto's TUTAM / UDA movement, leveraging this new grassroots network to actively campaign for the Kwanza Constituency Member of Parliament (MP) seat ahead of the 2027 General Election.
