Mutahi Kahiga

Dr. Mutahi Kahiga is a Kenyan politician and the Governor of Nyeri County. He first became governor in 2017 after succeeding the late Governor Wahome Gakuru and was re-elected in 2022 on a UDA ticket. Before entering politics, Kahiga worked as a teacher for many years and was involved in the Kenya National Union of Teachers. He holds a doctorate in Leadership and Education Management and remains active in Nyeri and national politics; in April 2026, he announced his intention to contest the Nyeri Senate seat in the 2027 elections
