About Ronald Kiprotich Tonui
Hon. Ronald Kiprotich Tonui is a prominent Kenyan politician, veteran educator, and former trade unionist who served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bomet Central Constituency under the Jubilee Party. A Kenyatta University alumnus with a strong background under the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), he aggressively advocated for teachers' welfare during his tenure as the National Assistant Treasurer for the Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET). Known for his outspoken leadership, he frequently clashed with top union officials over transparency, pushing for reforms like Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) reviews and healthcare access, culminating in a highly publicized bid to challenge long-serving Secretary General Akello Misori. Shifting his sights to regional leadership ahead of the 2027 general elections, Tonui has officially aligned with the Democratic Change Party (DCP) to launch his campaign for the Bomet County gubernatorial seat.
