Salvestas Kanyaru Mugao

Salvestas Kanyaru Mugao is the sitting Member of the County Assembly for Gatunga Ward in Tharaka Constituency, Tharaka-Nithi County. He was elected in the 2022 General Election as an independent candidate after receiving 2,447 votes. During his current term, Mugao has participated in legislative and oversight matters in the Tharaka-Nithi County Assembly. In September 2025, he raised concerns regarding Early Childhood Development Education and the management of contracted orthopaedic staff in the county. He continues to represent the residents of Gatunga Ward during the current Assembly term.
