Catherine Kamali Bunyassi is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, Notary Public, and veteran diplomat with over 25 years of continuous public service specialization in international trade negotiations and intellectual property (IP) law. She currently serves as the Chief State Counsel in the International Law Division within the Office of the Attorney General & Department of Justice. Boasting multi-disciplinary credentials—including a Master of Laws (LLM) in Intellectual Property and a PhD candidacy in International Peace Studies—she has historically represented Kenya at global negotiating tables such as the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the World Trade Organization (WTO). Transitioning her international portfolio into elective politics ahead of the 2027 general elections, her campaign machinery—headlined by the slogans "Bringing Experience Home" and "Omunang'ina Omina Lumbuku"—focuses heavily on leveraging trade networks to benefit youth innovators, cross-border women traders, and sugarcane farming families across Busia
