About Wycliffe Wafula Wangamati
Wycliffe Wafula Wangamati is a prominent Kenyan corporate executive and politician who served as the second Governor of Bungoma County from 2017 to 2022. Before entering public service, he built a distinguished career in the financial sector as a certified actuary and Managing Director for Zamara Kenya (formerly Alexander Forbes East Africa). Known for prioritizing health infrastructure and local scholarship programs during his single gubernatorial term, his administration faced stiff political friction, ultimately leading to his 2022 electoral defeat and subsequent high-profile legal battles. In late 2025, Wangamati was arraigned by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) over alleged KSh 31.8 million procurement fraud and tender inflation kickbacks—charges he firmly denies as politically motivated while he actively mobilizes opposition unity under the Linda Mwananchi movement ahead of the 2027 polls.
