About Ziphorah Ndunge Katunga
Dr. Ziphorah Ndunge Katunga, a daughter of Kathonzweni, Makueni Constituency, is an accomplished educationist, Special Needs Education specialist, lecturer, assessor and counselling professional. She began her education at Kathonzweni Primary and High Schools before training as a teacher at Mosoriot Teachers College, where she earned her P1 certificate. Her passion for inclusive education led her to KISE, followed by a Bachelor's degree in Special Education from Kampala International University, a Master's degree from Kenyatta University and a PhD in Counselling. She currently serves as a Lecturer and Assessor at the Kenya Institute of Special Education. For more than 15 years, she also served Makueni as a Scout Commissioner and Scouts Coordinator, mentoring young people and promoting leadership, discipline and community service, while also serving as a SMASE representative for Makueni County.
Dr. Katunga believes leadership should be about service, opportunity and accountability. Her vision focuses on quality and inclusive education, women empowerment, youth development, disability inclusion, mental health and accessible, responsible representation. Her journey from Kathonzweni to becoming a lecturer, assessor and PhD holder reflects the transformative power of education, determination and opportunity. She now seeks to place her experience and commitment at the service of the people of Makueni — championing education, empowerment, inclusion and accountability.
