Divide and Rule: Are We Being Turned Against Each Other?

Kenya’s diversity should be a strength, but political leaders can turn ethnicity into a tool for division, loyalty and distraction. As politicians point fingers at different communities, ordinary Kenyans risk fighting each other over leaders who can later unite for political gain. The real question is not which tribe should lead, but whether our leaders are delivering, accountable and serving all Kenyans. Our problems have no tribe, perhaps it is time we stopped allowing politics to make enemies of fellow citizens.

New Political Parties, Same Political Culture? Kenya’s Endless Cycle of Political Rebranding

Kenya’s 2027 political realignments are raising a deeper question: do new political parties actually represent new leadership, or simply provide familiar politicians with new political vehicles? As parties merge, split and reposition themselves, voters must look beyond party names and personalities to policies, accountability, integrity and measurable results. Kenya may not need more political rebranding, it needs a political culture that prioritises governance over political survival.

IS SHA REALLY WORKING? BETWEEN THE PRESIDENT'S ADDRESS AND THE REALITY OF KENYANS

President William Ruto says SHA is transforming Kenya's healthcare system, pointing to millions of registrations, processed claims and increased access to treatment. But patients and healthcare providers continue to report system failures, delayed payments and out-of-pocket costs. So, is SHA really working? The numbers show progress, but the true test is whether an ordinary Kenyan can walk into a hospital and receive quality care without financial hardship.

THE AFTERMATH OF OL KALOU BY-ELECTIONS: NOW THAT THE POLITICIANS ARE GONE AND EVERYTHING HAS QUIETED DOWN, WHO IS SUFFERING?

The Ol Kalou by-election may be over, and politicians may have moved on, but ordinary citizens are left to bear the consequences of electoral violence. With lives lost, families grieving, businesses disrupted and trust damaged, the real question remains: now that the politicians are gone and everything has quieted down, who is suffering?

Kenya Vision 2060: Ruto’s Long-Term Ambition Meets the Test of Public Participation and Delivery

President William Ruto’s push for a Kenya Vision 2060 has opened an important national conversation about the country’s long-term future. While the initiative seeks to move development planning beyond election cycles, questions remain about public participation, political neutrality and implementation. A successful Vision 2060 will ultimately depend not only on the ambition of the plan, but on whether it becomes a genuinely national framework capable of surviving successive governments and addressing both today’s challenges and tomorrow’s needs.

WILL THE ONE TERM SLOGAN COME TO A REALISATION? The Question That Could Define Ruto’s 2027 Election

With the 2027 General Election approaching, the question of whether William Ruto will become Kenya’s first one-term president is gaining political significance. Ruto’s allies are already mobilising for a second term, while the opposition hopes to turn economic frustrations, youth dissatisfaction and political divisions into an electoral challenge. The President has the constitutional right to seek another term, but whether Kenyans will give him five more years will ultimately depend on the economy, the strength of the opposition and the choices voters make at the ballot box.
